Not so many restaurant offer dine in at this time due to the pandemic restrictions. They are the only few restaurants that offer indoor seating. Food was delicious! Service was quick and friendly. Also price is good. Highly recommend!
Fast and friendly service, good ingredients. Too salty for my family. Ask for less salt and oil on your greens!
Some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered the dinner specials on the back of the menu. The food just kept coming and the portions were wonderfully big. The shrimp used in the dishes were nice sized shrimp, and its a meal I'll never forget. Definitely worth checking out in Chinatown.
The food was really good!
Great food...really great prices...i have celiac disease and they went out of their way to make sure i got plenty of wheat free choices!
Best wings ever. Always a huge line so be prepared to wait or order for takeout. Black bean noodles are great, too.
Clay pots made to order. Get adventurous.. Order the quail or frog dishes.... We tried the abalone and chicken with tons of chopped onions and black cap mushrooms.. Served steaming with rice on the side and hot Chile's if you like heat.. The chicken wings are my wife's favorite as an appetizer.. The owners are extremely pleasant and helpful but ask for clear directions to find this place because it is upstairs in a crowded street easy to miss.
Delicious food at a great price! Highly recommend the sesame chicken!
Neat little walk-up entrance and food that did not disappoint!
Great food, great staff. Highly recommend it! We will b returning soon.
Wonderful noodles.
Best Chinese restaurant I've ever been too!! Hands down! We will definitely come again on iur next trip to San Francisco. Everything we ordered was PERFECT
Some of the best chicken wonton soup in San Francisco. The ultimate comfort food -- Big bowl filled with wontons, bok choy, mushrooms, carrots, poached slices of chicken breast in clear broth. Tell them "no soy sauce" unless you want some in your soup.
The price was cheap and the shop was simple, but unexpectedly it was very delicious. I want to revisit.
I'm sad to say. There really wasn't much flavor. Not really spicy at all. I told them I liked spicey. Rice was very dull. Shrimp was ok. Chow fun was a joke. Got combination. There was 2 shrimp. 2 peices of chicken and nothing else. Next time I'll go to panda express. As it was the same quality just alot less expensive. Calamari was very lightly salted and peppered. Not good enough.
We had a wonderful experience at Hong Kong Clay Pot last year! We came to the San Francisco area before the U.S. Open and we had dinner here. We ordered 3 or 4 different dishes and we loved all of them! Highly recommend and I can't wait to visit again
Reasonably priced authentic clay pot fare! A huge bowl of soup is given before the food is served and you get a free pot of tea as well. Service is fast and food is delicious
At the second meal in the United States, I thought that the food I eat in Chinatown would be more to my liking, but the result is still the same. I usually try not to waste food, I must finish it, but it really makes me do n’t want to eat it. It ’s super, and it may not meet my appetite. In the end, I do n’t know what I ’m eating. The good thing is that the boss speaks Chinese and helps us introduce the menu.
Simple, large variety of food choice, attentive and friendly staff (owner) delicious and inexpensive food. Love it.
Thank you Hong Kong Clay Pot! This restaurant accommodated our large group very easily. Our server Bill was great with our nine kids and provided great recommendations and service. Bill put rubber band on all the kids chopsticks. We loved the potstockers, frog clay pot and ginger chicken. Wine affordable and good
A little hole in the wall in China Town. Not super busy, but really good.
A legit hole in the wall. Small dining room but fast and quality service. I had Quail clay pot dish. I never had Quail before and it was very fun to eat. It was like a bony less greasy duck. Come to this place if you're not afraid to try a place not glitzy and glamorous. It's just good solid food.
Don’t be fooled by the doorway!! A small door with some steep stairs immediately behind; that’s the welcome to HKCP. Don’t let it put you off. To be clear, this is not a highbrow Chinese restaurant. There are 2 waiting staff, one choice of beer, and the food arrives as it is cooked and ready in typical Chinese fashion. But that’s the point, the food is delicious and authentically Chinese. I can back this up by the number of Chinese people that eat here - it is a ‘locals’ spot. We enjoyed our dinner here so much that the following evening we came back for more! Don’t look for a restaurant with fancy decor in Chinatown, come here and enjoy it for what it is - really good food! To summarize; portion size is more than adequate, food is very tasty, atmosphere is warm and friendly, staff are friendly [enough], a very authentic experience for very very reasonable prices in the heart of Chinatown. Give it a try.
Couldn't fault this restaurant, wonderful food, good prices and attentive staff. We were a party of 11 and we couldn't have been looked after better.
Super super good food! Wonton soup was so good I'll never be able to eat it anywhere else! And I live on the East coast! The food was really great and the staff were very nice. The restaurant is nice and clean, nothing spectacular. They focused more on the food and how it's supposed to taste more than a big fancy showy restaurant. 10/10 would go back.
Outstanding Chinese food with equally outstanding service. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall from the street, but I definitely recommend.
Came here after doing some Google searching for a great restaurant in China town. I was not disappointed! The food was great, service excellent. The won ton soup is definitely a portion to share and the broth and wontons fantastic. We also got two clay pot meals for two of us which was too much food. One was the chicken curry. Nothing wrong with it but you're better off going to your favorite thai place if you're really craving a yellow curry. Good, not amazing. The ox tail pot was amazing though. Like a chinese version of beef stew. Comfort food at its best with a Chinese twist. It is a little difficult to handle the bone-in tail pieces but worth the effort. I don't believe rice comes with the pots but I ordered as a side and it was a welcome addition to both pots. Overall a great meal for two with plenty of leftovers for 30 plus tip. Would definitely return again...you know you're in the right spot when it's more locals than tourists!
The curry crab is expensive and obviously difficult to eat but I found it very delicious and worth the money. The service here is also very good :).
Good food, good service, good price!
Amazing fast service and they have GREAT food! The amount they serve is plenty to eat and take home.
We made my annual trip from South Bay to Chinatown for Chinese New Years shopping with friends. Eating in Chinatown is always one of our activities. We read the review and decided to try this place out. Three dishes and only one is good (pan fried noodles). The seafood clay pot is mediocre (Chinese restaurants in Palo Alto/Mountain View area tasted better). The third dish was not what we ordered but decided to keep since we didn’t want to wait longer ( we have almost finished the first 2 dishes when the waiter said the kitchen is cooking the incorrect 3rd dish and it will be another 15 minutes if they need to cook the correct dish. So we took a chance and kept the dish (steamed ground pork with salted fish). No taste and boring. The lunch is inexpensive during weekdays.
I liked it. Very authentic. Good food.
Great food and incredible service.
Very good food at a good price!
Deeeeelicious, super nice and friendly. Not crowded at all. Highly recommend!!!
We also came to this place because of the great reviews. It was not that great, we tried some of the clay pots, they had no flavour. When we finished our meal, we paid the bill and left. But the owner ran after us and said we did not give enough tip. On top of this he said the minimum tip is 15% (which is just a suggested tip) he then continues to blame it on the high taxes they have here in San Francisco(tax was included in the price).
This place is the real deal. I have eaten here a few times and each time the food has been excellent.
Great food, we were a part of five and took the Dinner Menu A which was a delicious mix of dishes. Especially the spring rolls were excellent! Most of the patrons were Chinese which was nice.
Really good service! The host poured our soup and gave us chopsticks to use. Clean area, a hole in the wall kind of place, really got look for the signs to find it. Delicious! Now i see why the reviews were so high! Would recommend!
We liked the food. Simple hearty food at a good price.
Mix of locals and tourists. Large and easy to navigate menu. Good food. Even my picky eating kids liked it.
Cheap AF and good food. Rock hard fortune cookies
The sort of place I love. A small, unpretentious place up a narrow staircase from the street, with lazy Susans on most of the tables, where only a few roundeyes like my family were. Excellent food, on the order of what I had at good restaurants in Hong Kong.
I travel a lot. When I do travel I look for these fantastic hole in the wall joints like this. It is not fancy, very reasonably priced, and the food is authentic as it gets. Do not put your American preconceived notions of what a restaurant should be, this is a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown...Outside of hoping on a boat and heading to the far east, it does not get any better than this. You will get the vibe of what what 1.3 billion people love.
We love this place. Started off with fish soup with veg to warm us up. The steamed fish was done just right. The steamed eggs with clams was so appetising with rice. Fresh prawns with vermicelli and cabbage in claypot was flavourful. Authentic Chinese food in Chinatown! We had sesame paste for dessert which completes the meal.
Authentic restaurant in the heart if China town. Dont expect a touristy vibe here. Good food, made by family staff, tucked away upstairs. Quitw dufficult to find, and dont be put off by the no-frills entrance and decore. Fast service and probably the cheapest meal we had on our 2 week road trip. Quality was excellent, good experience.
great Chinese food
We visit this place every time we are in San Francisco. Great food great value
Delicious and friendly. Everything we ate was wonderful. We will be back. Kid friendly.
Great! Very friendly! Authentic Chinese food. Couldn’t ask for more!
